Polly Morgan

I went to see Polly Morgan's  "Endless Plains"exhibition today. Very interesting. I really like her work and have been following her work since I first read about her last year.Polly Morgan is a new breed of taxidermist mixing sculpture and now 2D works with taxidermy. It makes for very macabre viewing but very beautiful. The drawings of bird nests seem very ordinary until you notice the small bodies of the dead birds which relate to each nest laying on the top of the frame. Also the drawing is made with the cremated carcasses of the birds. Like I said quite macabre.

As it happens she is a very collectable artist and very much in vogue at the moment. The gallery space is very dark and it took a moment for my eyes to adjust to the dark, when I did I realized I was sharing the gallery with Jude Law.

Roundup

So it seems like ages and eons since I last posted. Lots to tell. Mainly we are damp proofing our kitchen which is a painful and dusty experience and means we are cooking in a microwave we found on the street . Hopefully we will have our kitchen back next week.

We had half term and went down to Hastings for a few days. Always visually inspiring.

This last weekend we went up to Highgate woods with the boys and the dog.Hard to believe that this is London it seems like some village green. Then a quick walk up the hill to Highgate ( Highgate woods are actually in Muswell Hill) and the summer fair on the green.

The fair was good with more stalls than Primrose Hill and more entertainment. They even had a dog show so maybe Scruffy and I will enter next year.

Post Jubilee hangover

It has been a mad week with lots of guests and a Jubilee party , Rounders on Primrose Hill, down at the Thames trying to get a glimpse of the flotilla( we didn't) and a quick sprint up the hill to catch the last of the fireworks( we did).
Anyhoo we all went for a lovely walk in Trent Park on Monday which was fab. The weather held though it did give us some dramatic skies. Then home for a large slab of Honey cake. Actually that's not true I only made the Honey cake today using up all my old crusty jars of honey that I can't bear to throw out and that no one will eat. Nice cake and a nice walk. Just not on the same day. Enough said.
